CapCut is on millions of phones, yet most videos made with it use the same three tools: trim, music and text. The difference between an average video and a polished one often hides in features you have never opened.
Feature names and availability can differ by version and region, and some effects are Pro-only, but here is where to look.
1. Auto captions
Many people watch with the sound off. Generating captions automatically, then restyling them, is one of the biggest boosts to watch time you can make in a few minutes. Always proofread them, because names and local words trip up the automatic system.
2. Keyframes
Keyframes let an element move, zoom or fade over time. A slow zoom on a still photo makes it feel alive, and animated text feels deliberate instead of pasted on.
3. Speed curves
Instead of one constant speed, you can shape slow-motion and fast-motion within a single clip. It is the secret behind many smooth, cinematic transitions.
4. Background removal and chroma key
Remove a background to place yourself on a different scene, or use chroma key with a plain green or blue wall. Even good phone footage looks far better with clean edges.
5. Noise reduction
Bad audio loses viewers faster than bad video. Cleaning background noise from voice recordings is a quick win.
6. Auto reframe
Shot something wide? Reframe it for vertical, square or wide formats so one recording can serve several platforms.
7. The first three seconds
Not a button, but the most important skill. Start with the most interesting moment, then tell the story. Cut anything that does not earn its place.
Open the app, pick one feature from this list, and use it in your next video. Add the others one at a time.
Video Editing and Content Creation with CapCut: Everyone has CapCut. Few use more than the trim button.
